It was here that Maclow, from whom
Saint-Malo gets its name, landed in the 6th century to convert the natives. It was an independent parish until 1967 when it became incorporated into Saint-Malo. Solidor Alet
1. Fort du Naye Remains of the old Fort (1843) that oversaw the entry of the port, now equipped with locks.2. Bas Sablon Pier Enchanting walk along the ancient cove called La Montre. View on the marina, Cape Frehel and Saint-Malo.3. Port Solidor One of the most picturesque areas, former site of naval construction. View on the River Rance estuary, on the Rance Barrage, the world’s largest tidal barrage.4. Solidor Tower The splendid triple towers stands as it as stood since the 13th-century. Today it houses the International Cape Horners museum.5. Port Saint-Père A small harbour, facing Dinard and on the side of Alet peninsula.6. Ancient Saint-Pierre Cathedral One of the oldest parishes with foundations of the Saint-Pierre cathedral dating back to the Carolingian and Roman period (9th-and 11th-century)7. Alet Peninsula It was on this peninsula that the first inhabitants of Saint-Malo settled. Come and enjoy the coastal walks: the "Corniche", which takes you round the town and enables you to discover the magnificent panorama. - Testimony to what was a centrepiece of the German resistance in 1944, numerous blockhouses are still standing.8. Fort of Alet Built in 1759 and modernised in 1942 by the German team lead by Todt.The Memorial 39/45 is inside the Fort of Alet - Have a guided tour amongst the memories of the Second World War and relive the progress of the conflict in Saint-Malo. 9. 10. Old Saint-Servan Along the small cobbled streets Duport Dutertre and Etoupe, you will see the oldest houses of Saint-Servan11. Sainte Croix Church Rebuilt on several occasions, the church wasn’t finish until 1743 and its bell tower -ornate with apertures- wasn’t completed until 1840. Do come and admire the quality and the diversity of its 19th century decorations and furniture.12. Cemeteries Rue Jeanne Jugan : tombs of several English families as well as local admirals.Further on, overlooking the Fours à Chaux cove, the Rosais cemetery with its overlooking view on the River Rance. 13. Domain of Briantais Covering an area of 27 hectares (68 acres) the Domain of Briantais is Saint-Malo's largest area of landscape. The park offers a splendid view of the Solidor Tower, the Bay of Saint-Malo and the river Rance.Come and discover the castle built in 1850 to replace a 17th century manor belonging to a wealthy Saint-Malo ship owner. 14. Bel Air Park Equipped with games for children, this public garden is set in the heart of Saint-Servan. Ancient mill then transformed into a semaphore. Chapel Saint Joseph (1875)15.
